Summary: Good fun

A nice little wuxia - all a bit nonsensical but fun in a non brain-taxing way. Some pretty cool wired up action, though not reliably great. Worth a look.

Summary: run of the mill

A run of the mill movie with poor editing, the speeding up of the fight scenes was terrible. It was so obvious!! And the ending, well usually the trickery is used by the villians, well for once it happens for the good guys. Overall nothing special here

This movie is nearly ruined by some painfully ridiculous sped-up action. Overall, the action is extremely uneven in the first half. It's either too fast (30% - 50% speed up) or too slow. I almost gave up on the movie.

In fact, the second half has great action and suspense. This movie would have been a whole lot better if the first half were polished some more. The story overall is very interesting.

Summary: One of the last Shaw greats.

Shaw made a run of unpopular excellent movies as the Kung fu movie era was dying. This is one of them. A true classic to the finish with a lot of class. By the time this movie came out, our chinese theatres were closing down. Anyway, Pai Pao does another excellent performance as a master swordsman. He outclasses Mr. Yee in every aspect except looks. It's just too bad he's not good looking or he'd be the good guy playing opposite of Yee. Here, he pretty much wastes everybody. Even the elusive master with the last sword couldn't beat him. He loses by a trick sword in the end, which proves that not all the determination in the world can beat the forces of good. lol
