Wong entered the Ji Nan Film Company as a trainee of the actors training course. She took a
role in the film 24 Heroes during that time. In 1932, Wong came to Hong Kong and made
Cry of the Cuckoo in the Temple. Wong made over 300 films in her entire career. Most of
her roles were obnoxious and old women. Her most memorable films are Melody of Life, Prodigal Son, The Guiding Light,Wilderness,Salvation, Vampire Woman, A
Mad Woman and so on. She was twice Chief Executive of South China Film Industry
Workers Union. From 1971 onwards, Wong became an actress in TV dramas first with TVB,
and then with RTV. She obtained the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Hong Kong Film
Awards in 1995.
