The name "Nat" is in fact short for Natalise and he is best known by fans and his peers as "Ah Lac" in Hong Kong, meaning very witty.
Nat Chen Pai-chiang started his singing career at the age of sixteen and formed a pop rock band ("Losers") with Alan Tam and a few others to perform in local Wanchai bars. In 1970, Losers won an amateur band competition and their talents were quickly recognized by TVB, TVB invited them to host a popular show named "Star Show." In 1978, Nat rejoined TVB and starred in a romantic drama series program which widely appealed to the young audience (with Nat's soon to become wife Huang Hsing-hsiu, Chow Yun-fat, Louie Castro, Rowena Cortes, Alan, Tan, etc.)
As an actor, Nat has starred in more than 60 movies that are mostly in the comedy genre. He co-starred in the massive hit movies The 82 Tenants, Hong Kong Playboys and I Love Lolanto.
